Évolution de la Texture
One material under two lights: the gap between them is what the word luminosity actually means, physically. Drag left and right to compare.
What this pair compares
Backstage technique
Warm two drops of the facial oil between your palms, press outward from the centre of the face, and let it settle for three minutes before foundation. The oil phase first levels the microscopic relief of the stratum corneum, and the direction of reflected light shifts from scattered to directional — that, physically, is where luminosity comes from.

What this pair compares
Backstage technique
By day, sweep the cool tone of the sculpting duo lightly through the socket and under the cheekbone, and press colour only into the centre of the lip. After dark, deepen the shadow in exactly the same places and carry the lip colour right out to the edge. The palette does not change; what changes is how much of it you cover and how sharp you leave the border.

Rêverie Rose sur la Rive Gauche
Ten in the morning on the Place Vendôme, where the light arrives only after a second bounce off the stone façades — soft, but never scattered. It is the ideal light for a low-saturation rose complexion: it builds no contrast, it simply traces the outline.

Lumière Pure de la Côte d'Azur
Mediterranean noon light is strong and hard, and any heavy base will show you its edges under it. The resort answer is subtraction: get the water content of the skin right first, and leave the rest to the light.

Laboratoire Botanique
INCI is one of the very few things in cosmetics that is genuinely standardised and genuinely checkable. Every name and functional class below can be verified in a public ingredient database.
Rose de Damas Absolue · Rose Valley, Bulgaria
The scent of rose absolute is an ensemble of several hundred molecules, led by phenylethanol, citronellol and geraniol. Those same molecules are among the fragrance allergens the European Union requires to be declared — which is why an honestly made rose product usually has the longer ingredient panel, not the shorter one. What the absolute contributes here is scent and skin feel; writing it up as the formula’s antioxidant workhorse would not be accurate.
Truffe Blanche d’Alba · Alba, Piedmont, Italy
White truffle appears as Tuber Magnatum Extract in the INCI system, with skin conditioning as its declared function — a fact anyone can look up in any public ingredient database. It is rich in polysaccharides and proteins, forms a hydrated conditioning film on the surface of the skin, softens roughness and slows water loss. That is its genuine place in a formula: an excellent skin-feel and humectant ingredient, not the lead in an anti-ageing story.
Acide Hyaluronique Multi-Poids · Biofermentation
How hyaluronic acid behaves is decided almost entirely by molecular weight. Fractions in the million-dalton range cannot cross the stratum corneum, so they stay on the surface as a hydrated film; fractions in the tens of thousands can enter its upper layers. Neither reaches the dermis, which makes “deep hydration” an untenable phrase in dermatological terms. The point of a multi-weight blend is to cover both places at once.
Squalane Végétal · Sugarcane fermentation / olive (Provence, France)
Human sebum already contains squalene, one of the skin’s own natural emollients, but its six double bonds make it oxidise very readily. Hydrogenation into squalane removes those bonds and raises stability considerably, while the affinity with skin survives intact. Ours is fermented from sugarcane and is not of animal origin — in earlier decades this raw material came chiefly from deep-sea shark liver oil.
Diagnostic Colorimétrique
Choose the skin tone closest to yours and every shade is converted into CIELAB, then compared with the complete CIEDE2000 formula. The figures are real, and you are welcome to check them yourself.
Step one · Choose your skin tone
Neither noticeably yellow nor noticeably pink; gold and silver jewellery both sit well.
Complexion · Teint View the piece
A complexion shade is meant to match, so these are ranked by ΔE00 colour difference, smallest first — a quantity that can actually be measured.
Lips · Lèvres View the piece
A lip colour is meant to contrast, not to match. The order below comes from a colour heuristic the maison sets itself (hue direction plus lightness gap); it is not an industry standard. The ΔE00 figures are still real measurements, given for reference only.
Cheeks & highlight · Joues View the piece
Cheek colour works to a smaller lightness gap, and is ordered by the same colour rule the maison sets itself rather than by any measurable standard.
This CIEDE2000 implementation is checked pair by pair against the 34 reference values published by Sharma, Wu & Dalal (2005), and agrees with every one of them to four decimal places.

L'Art des Lèvres Veloutées : Les Coulisses de la Fashion Week
Backstage at this spring’s couture shows, makeup artists abandoned the sharp lip line almost in unison, in favour of an edge that looks as though the morning got to it first.
La Barrière Cutanée : Ce Qu’On Peut et Ne Peut Pas Promettre
Skincare does less than the advertising says and more than the sceptics believe. The line falls at the stratum corneum.

Scent is the most private key memory has. And the hardest part of a good perfume is almost always deciding what to leave out.
