White truffle (Tuber magnatum) extract is rich in polysaccharides and proteins, and its role here is conditioning and film-forming hydration. What really holds this crème up is the four ceramides — NP, AP, EOP and phytosphingosine — whose proportions follow the natural lipid composition of a healthy stratum corneum, replacing the part the barrier has lost. Rich in texture without feeling airless; best used at night.
If the panel cannot say it, the story cannot either
Alba white truffle appears in the INCI system as Tuber Magnatum Extract, with skin conditioning as its declared function. That is worth writing down: a marketing story has to have a corresponding, verifiable line on the ingredient panel, otherwise it is only a story. Truffle extract is rich in polysaccharides and proteins and can form a hydrated conditioning film on the surface of the skin — that is its real place in the formula, and it has nothing to do with regeneration at a cellular level.
The question of ceramide proportions
The intercellular lipids of a healthy stratum corneum are made up broadly of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, and the proportion between the three is itself part of how the barrier works. Raising the concentration of ceramide alone does not bring linearly more benefit, which is why this formula uses four structurally different ceramides plus phytosphingosine rather than simply more of one.
